The Environmental Discovery Center (EDC) at Lynches River County Park is in need of volunteers to serve in several capacities. There are many ways to volunteer and almost any skill is needed and appreciated. Some examples of types of volunteer jobs are listed below. Please note that this list is not all-inclusive. If you are interested in another area, please contact the EDC Supervisor.
- Share your enthusiasm for the environment
- Increase your own knowledge of the natural world
- Spend time outdoors
- Meet people with similar interests
Visitor Services volunteers greet visitors and provide them with information about the Environmental Discovery Center and the types of activities available. They have a good working knowledge of all aspects of the EDC and are there to answer questions and assist visitors.
Volunteers in Education Programming are trained to assist EDC staff with educational programming for school aged children, families, and groups.
Trail guides lead nature walks that highlight relevant history such as the Stagecoach Road and points of interest such as identified plant species, birds, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and mammals.
